‘i want to build! where to now?’

To clarify and simplify how we approach our larger projects, like a permitted Home or building in Australia, we’ll outline our process and some ball-park figures below

  • We Consult, Design, and Build all over Australia, and the World!

  • We officially engage, often after a few emails. We work for $70ph during the entire consultancy period. This initial period can last between 10-50hours, depending on the size of the job

  • We ascertain your needs, from emails, phone calls and any drawings you may have

  • We begin simple computer aided design, in either 3D or 2D depending on the job

  • If a site survey has been completed, we refer to that. We also reference any soil tests already completed. If neither are done, we organise to have them done ASAP by local trades

  • We all agree on design, placement on the land, and orientation of the building

  • We bundle all information into a clear handover document

  • We handover to our drafter, who is highly skilled and motivated for executing and delivering amazing Natural Buildings in Australia

  • She draws submittable plans for anywhere between $1500-$4500AUD, depending on the size and complexity of the building (lower for smaller, higher for larger) She works for $90ph + GST

  • We submit plans to local council, with all associated forms and appendices completed alongside you, supporting and informing you at every stage (each State is slightly different with their processes)

  • We achieve Engineering based off completed plans, done through our wonderful firm who we work alongside, to achieve a natural building with as little cement in it as possible. Engineering also ranges in price from $1500-$5000+ depending on the complexity and scope of works. This is still very low compared to individuals attempting the engineering process alone, as we have established relationships and designs ready-to-go, and have taken so much of the grunt-work out of the process already

  • We collate Engineering, Electrical, Plumbing etc for second round submission for Building Approval (mainly in VIC this is the process)

  • We achieve Planning and Building approval from council. There’s normally around $1000 in fees during the whole council submission process, but changes dramatically province to province

  • We organise alongside you how you’d like the building stage to look. We are not licensed builders, and currently either work under clients Owner Builder status, or find a local Builder who is willing to work alongside us. This second option can open clients up to Financial assistance from Banks through home-loans. On-site Hayden works for between $40-$60ph depending on the job and how many people he must organise. Millie is his assistant, working for $35-$45ph depending on the job

  • We hopefully get to work onsite with you and your team, or organise everything for you if needed, and get to it! We often organise workshops to help bring people in, and get work done in a fun and communal way

  • We finish the build, and you move in and love your new Natural Building!
